Greetings, I'm new to the forum. I just purchased a pre-owned Seafarer. Next to the battery switch is a small placard which reads: "If selecting only 1 battery, disconnect other battery cable from switch to avoid damage to the electrical system." I've operated boats for over 50 years and never seen this. I just noticed the placard a few days ago. I have been running the boat for a few weeks and alternating with the switch either on battery 1 or 2 as is customary and nothing has blown up. My guess is that the placard is there to avoid litigation in case someone moves the switch between 1 and 2 while the motor is running and damages the system due to a faulty switch or wiring or turns the switch to off and back on which could definitely harm the system. Has anyone here run across this placard and know why it is there?
