The ICW from Great Bay to AC well marked and you can make decent time, it is very narrow in a few spots.. I would prefer the ocean route. Absecon inlet into AC is well marked . Weather should be stable at that time. Farley State marina will have every thing you need as well as access to the casinos

Best marina's in NJ

I have been boating in southern NJ for 20 years ... In my opinion there is no marina in S. Jersey that even comes close to Schooner Island Marina in Wildwood. It is a full service marina, wide floating docks, clean restrooms and a pool. Also it is within walking distance to quite a few taverns/restaraunts ...if you plan on cooking on the boat there is a supermarket 2 blocks away .... ...it's about 15 block walk to the beach ...

Hope this helps! If you need more info let me know

If your coming to Cape May it depends on how long, what you want and your transportation situation.

I am at Schooner Island Marina in Wildwood. A great marina. Close to an Acme, McDonalds, liquor store, several resturants in walking distance. You need a car to get into Cape May.

I have also docked at the Canyon Club. This is a big boat marina - 40' and up and mostly 50'+. Not that thats a bad thing. They are great people to deal with. No stores nearby. Cape May is too far to walk but you can cab it.

Utche's is on the Cape May side of the bridge but not much closer to Cape May.

August is tournament time in Cape May so you need to plan around them and do it early. MidAtlantic 500 and Ocean City White Marlin Open.

PM me if you need more help.

That time of year should be nice. There is the possibility of late day thunderstorms (probably the same for you in NY). In the afternoon, the Ocean has a South wind and may get a little choppy buy your Marlin should have no problem. Are you planning on sight-seeing on the way down or running-and-gunning?

If you need gas by Manasquan, Fishermans Supply usually has decent prices. Just head South when you get through the inlet.

Cape May Trip

Live outside Atlantic City and travel to Cape May on a regular basis. My strong suggestion is to run outside from AC inlet to Cape May inlet. About a 45 min trip. Inside from AC to Cape May will take well over 2 hours. And if you don't have local knowledge, I would only go at high tide. There are some areas behind Wildwood that you need to get on plane at low water to sneak through.
We stay at SJ Marine - great staff/facility and is only a short taxi ride into downtown Cape May - Try the Washington Inn for a great meal!!!

As a side note, if you do travel outside, the inlets from AC to Cape May are less than friendly at times.....

Good Luck
