Looking at purchasing a Garmin Kraken trolling motor for my freedom 235. It has the 90 inch shaft and a 100# thrust and is a 36 V motor.. Any helpful information on lithium batteries that would be best or worst (for that matter) would be appreciated.

We've been using Dakotas, and our customers are happy with them. Worst thing, in my opinion, is to go for the cheapest you can find. You want a strong brand behind you.

I have been using a REDODO 12v 100 ah on my other boat (2011 Hurricane) running a 55 lb minn kota terrova for 3 years with no issues in the central Florida heat.

We've been installing the Black Oak Led lithium batteries with charging system for trolling motors and the feedback has been great. As Kevin from BOE stated above, I also hear great things on the Dakota batteries. Happy to quote you for the Black Oak products shipped to you.

Black Oak and Dakota have 11 year warranties. That's an important factor to check before you buy.

Did you install the Kraken in your 235? Just picked up a 235 and might install a trolling motor. Would you mind sharing pics of the install?
Thanks

I have been using one of these for my Rhodan, excellent performance and retains it's charge during long term storage.
(edit to 36V model with charger which is what I bought from Amazon)

LOSSIGY 36V 100Ah Lithium Golf Cart Battery, Bluetooth LiFePO4 Battery with 43.8V25A Smart Battery Charger

Also comes with a charger AND you can monitor the battery charge state and performance on your phone though a bluetooth App.

Cost is under $670 now, I paid over $1000 a year ago...

I have been using the Weize lithium ion batteries on my other boat for several years now and they work great. They also may be one of the less expensive options.

Yes, I did install it and have used it on a few trips this spring. Unfortunately, I have not taken any pictures of the installation yet but I will try to take some tomorrow. It does a great job and the 90 inch shaft is necessary, in my opinion. I went with using the sea swivel mount and mounted it on the starboard side of the boat. I used Li Time batteries that seem to work well. I used 2- 36 volt 50 AH (I think) batteries linked in parallel and after several hours of use I have barely been able to use 10 % of the batteries capability. I don't really use the Garmin for long periods of trolling since I also have helmmaster and I can control speed easily without using the trolling motor. To date I have used the trolling motor primarily for shallow water ops and anchoring. It works well for that use. It is much better at anchoring than is the fish hold on the helmmaster system. I will try to get back to you in a few days with pics.

Yep, that is my knowledge too and i probably start with one LiTime 50Ah 36V and add a second one if i run frequently out of power.
The battery/s will stay under the bow platform (aka table) and i expect to fit one sideways, while a 100Ah 36V would fit only the long way, so i could still store my life raft there.
Also, twin 50Ah are considerable less expensive than one of the few 100Ah 36V and if needed less heavy to take out of the boat.

We just finished getting our 257 Advance a Garmin Kraken 90 inch and I chose to install a single 36v lithium battery by Monster. They have the best warranty of any brand and they weren’t the most expensive one either. It’s the 63ah model and fit nicely inside a battery box with a lid. I’ll post some pictures as soon as Mother Nature quits dumping all this rain on us.

This took a little longer than I had hoped but here are a few pictures of my installation.
