Just bought a Freedom 205. Got a slip for it and I'm thinking about getting a full cover for when not in use?
Any advice here? A friend of mine said don't bother as it's such a pain.
Also, any suggestions on what type to get? From where?

First off; It depends on how much you want to protect your boat from the sun/elements, etc. Dealing with a cover is extra work, but it goes a long way in preserving the look and life of your boat. To me, it's worth the effort. If my Grady sits for more than a week, the cover goes on.

As far as types, I'm on the other side of the country from California, but I'm sure others can jump in with ideas.

If you slipping the boat, the easiest cover to put on and take off will be one that snaps around the cockpit and bow. This means a custom job.

Here is a pic of mine. I paid right around $1K for it last year. I know everything is more expensive in CA but it will give you an idea anyway.....

Thanks Parthery. That's exactly what I need. And you are correct, I'll assume a 2.5x multiplier for CA. Just moved here from Atlanta a few years ago, miss the reasonableness!

I got a full cover for my seafarer from boatcovers.com

Paid $650 I think.

Did you get any assessories with it? Trying to get whatever I need to make it easy to put on while in the water?

Welcome! It's nice to see fellow Grady owners in Dana Point!

I'd go with a custom cockpit cover similar to what Parthery is showing. Price out here won't been too much different. They are a lot of good independent canvas guys around, though I've still got the same cover we had made 15 years ago, so I'm not the right one to recommend anyone. It's held up well and cost about $900 is 2001. If you've got a trailer and can deliver it to the shop, that helps out quite a bit.

This is not a cover I would put in on the water. More of a winter cover.
