I have started searching for a used boat and Grady White is high on my list. Can you guys tell me how I can determine if a boat has wood rot or any other issues I should look for? I'm looking for a 2000-2005 CC in the 24-26' range.

Thanks in advance, Bruce

Bruce first of all welcome to the website. I've learned a few tricks some simple and some not so simple.

An easy one that requires no tools is to grab the lower unit and attempt to lift then lower the outboard while watching the transom closely for flex. Another one is to gently tap with a plastic mallet on the hull and listen for "hollow" spots. I gather one of the best methods is to use a moisture meter and determine what locations are wet and perhaps more importantly, why is there a leak and where is it coming from?

Good luck.
