Looking at a 4000lbs Shore Station lift 108" for a 1997 22-8 with a hardtop. Does this sound right??? If not what are u guys with the same boat using?

That sounds a bit light for a 228. My 222 is pushing 4500 by the time you figure weight of the boat, motor, full tank of fuel, full water tank, gear, your weight when you go in the boat in the lift, etc. I'd go heavier. I use a 10,000 pound lift for mine; overkill but I'm set for my next bigger boat too.

agreed,

4000 is a starter lift for small boats

I installed a 10K lift as well, and the 228 was on it for years. Now it holds my 27' Chase, and I'm glad I spent slightly more for the heavier lift.

I just had a 7000# Golden Elevator Lift installed for my 225 Tournament. I will report back on how it works out. My boat is close to 5K lbs with everything. I think you will be too light with that size lift.
