Hey All - Finally made a purchase and now need to get my Gulfstream from the Millsboro, DE area to Long Island! Aside from uShip, does anyone have any local suggestions for transporters in Delaware?

Much appreciated!!

Svensson boat transport, here on Long Island. Call Darlene for a quote, Howie is the best. He has moved my 28 sailfish and now my 33 Express. He also relocated a full keel sailboat I owned. He has top notch equiptment and is meticulous.

Try Bruce Dawson. He is here in New Jersey but moves stuff all over. 609-226-3788. He hauled a 26 Shamrock I hauled to Beaufort, NC and picked up a 24 Rampage that I bought up in Taunton, Mass and recently gave me a price to haul my Gulfstream up to Lindhurst, NY for a transom replacement..but I decided to have it done locally.

If this is the same Bruce Dawson that used to own Ship Bottom Boat Towing do not use him. I used to use him and stopped after he lifted my boat without hooking it to the trailer. The boat slid backwards off the trailer and hit the ground. The damage was minimal but he blamed me because I didn't tell him the bottom was waxed. One of my neighbors stopped using him after he screamed and yelled at him for no apparent reason. I would say stay away from this guy.

Yeah that is the same guy..he hauled my boats from 1993 until he retired and sold the bussiness. I never had any problem wuth him at all and he was always very careful..that was one of the reasons that I liked him. He even hauled a 24 Rampage down from Mass, hauled a 26 Shamrock I sold to North Carolina and did all my local towing as well as my friends with bigger boats. When did you have issues with him?

Bruce Dawson is a convicted criminal and has a domestic violence restraining order against him. He posted on the internet a photo of the new owner of SBBT to the "Lady GaGa" song papparatzi and was arrested for that. He was found guilty of criminal harrassment when he placed a fake bomb in that woman's son's car. LBI is rife with stories about the boats Mr. Dawson has damaged. He once even hit a traffic light! He has bragged that he does not need FHWA authority (needed for interstate commercial transport) as his "Badge Americard" allows him to do as he pleases. Ask the sailfish owner whose boat was impounded in NC. There are too many good haulers out there. Ask for DOT numbers and look them up at www.dot.gov

2002Dolphin,

I guess you are also 1974Mako171 on the Hull Truth...anyway, I am puzzled about your post. Bruce always moved my boats with a hydraulic trailer and there is no way that a boat can slide off one of those, especially when the bow sits low and the rear hydraulic pads are raised. Everytime he put one of my boats in the water, I had to back them off the trailer with a fair amount of throttle??? :hmm

Yes I am, I used to have a Donzi when I lived in BHW that he moved for me. When loading it in the yard the boat slid backwards off the trailer. He claimed it was since I waxed my bottom. He refused to cover the damage and blamed me. Now my Grady is on a lift and I trailer my little Mako. Glad not to deal with him anymore.

Eneded up going through uShip which got me with Mike Reed of Finger Lakes Marine Transport. Despite a severe low tide that delayed getting the boat to the ramp on the DE side, Mike worked with the situation, had to stay overnight to get the boat in the morning when the tide was right.

He was easy to deal with and got the boat up to NY safely. Would recommend and would use again if I ever needed to.

Have you thought about cruising the boat home? Millsboro to Montauk is about 200 miles, so depending on where you live on LI the distance should be shorter. I'd be happy to make the trip for you. Should be cheaper than over land.

Well, I asked the Web Administrator to remove the false posts on this site and was ignored. So Ill have to answer with the truth on these statements. lbiboatcap is Bob Brazill of Overland Marine Transport. This is an outfit that no one would ever use. His work is as unethical as his posts. He has more time in small claims court than most lawyers. He is currently being sued by Boat US for a sailboat that he totaled on a haul to Winters in Riverside NJ. He recently trashed a Reinker that he hauler from Stone Hbr to Pt Pleasant. He was performing boater safety courses for the Marine Police but was removed from the list for all the phony licenses that he gave out. He has been put out of service many times by the DOT. Cited by the DEP and perjured himself in court. His reputation in the LBI area is well known and despised. His whole operation is a scam. Boat Surveys are a joke. His son, Bobby was certified by Chapmans but he passed away. Bob has no clue what he is doing and is known in the area as a fraud. Its a good thing for him that it is a tourist area with many new suckers that dont know his reputation. Now lets go to Dolphin2002. This is Matt Dunne of Ship Bottom Boat Towing. Matt bought this company in 2006 and has completely destroyed the excellent reputation that existed until then. He has damaged so many boats with his careless disregard and feels that no one will know. Long Beach Island is known as Small Beach Island for a reason. Everyone knows. There is a complete disregard for integrity, both in business and personal relationships. He posts outright lies with impunity. He never owned a Donzi with a waxed haul and never owned a Grady. He owns a Carolina Skiff and a Mako. I apologize for turning this site into a forum like this but this should have been handled by the site administrator.
