So good to be finished!!! Moved one battery from starboard to port stern. Needed to extend wiring from ACR to new battery location. Saved the hydraulic Bennet trim tabs, moving the pump over approx. 12 inches to make room (was going to go to electric). Moved wash down pump. New battery trays, and tie down straps.Still have some life in the flooded batteries but actively looking at AGM"s to replace. Found the kneeling, bent over double for hours to get into this stern hatches, tough on the bod. Did not realize how heavy the group 27 batteries are until you have to place and remove a couple of times to figure out the fit to install, while tipping and turning to make them fit. Batteries on port now equal weight to kicker on starboard......YES!

Always have enjoyed the boat modification gymnastics. It does appear to takes me just a tad longer now and a day or two of meditation on the mod, well before the start.

Nice, I did the same after I bought my boat. Added an ACR (love it) and moved both Group 24 batters to port to balance out 120 lb kicker. Did you use the Blue Sea Terminal fuses they ask for on your ACR? I've blown 2, thinking of switching to a circuit breaker. 100 amp.

Drifter I Have a breaker, but will check the size when I get a chance and let you know. Are you finding group 24 sufficient for your needs. I pull prawn traps 300 t0 400 ft. and run 20 # leads on my down riggers, so use a fair bit of battery power.I have Group 27 in the boat. I am looking at Group 31 dual purpose AGM Energizer from Costo to replace if I can make them fit. Have not made a move yet.

Group 24 has been ok so far but I’ve notice the downriggers slow down after a long fishing weekend with stereo/amp loud. I only use15 lb balls. Im sure bigger is better. All my battery wires are custom lengths so if I go to a bigger battery for house loads I’ll have to make more.
