I'm using a bottom paint with 45% copper and I'm wondering if I can use this on the trim tabs and outboard engine brackets?
I dont paint the anodes but will they still protect from corrosion or should I be using a different type of paint on the metals?

Thnaks in advance!!

Brutus,

I always paint my trim tabs with the same paint I paint the bottom of the boat with. I did use the interlux 333 paint for the engine bracket and lower unit as I dont want to corrode away the aluminum.

Copper bases paint is OK for the trim tabs but not anything Aluminum, it'll eat it up.

If you look at Bennetts recommendations for painting, it states that they prefer an epoxy primer and perhaps a binder type of primer, followed by your usual bottom paint.
As stated by others, no copper on aluminum!
