how much bottom paint do i need for my 2002 Sailfish to put one coat on it plus the trim tabs?

don't use regular copper based bottom paints on your metal trim tabs...not very compatible....use bottom paint specifically designed for metal parts like Trilux or similar product.

I'm not sure of it not being affected at all...maybe less affected....2 dissimilar metals in salt water make a nice battery regardless. Stainless steel is more noble or cathodic than Aluminum for sure. Aluminum, which is anodic will be more affected by the copper (which is more towards the middle of the scale) for this reason, and the fact that the seperation on the nobility scale is greater between copper/aluminum than for copper/stainless...but I bet if you look at any of the paint manufacturers like Pettit or Interlux, both will not recommend using copper bottom paint directly on any metal parts in the water. They will tell you to barrier coat the parts with and epoxy primer like Interprotect and then use the antifouling paint on it, or one specifically designed for metal.
I would check with the manufacturer before applying any copper based paint onto any metal parts.

what kind of paint and why only 1 coat? Ive never gotten 100% coverage from just 1 coat.
I put 3 coats of Petit Ultima SR on my Seafarer 2 years ago and bottom looks great. Will put 2 coats on this year which should give me 2 more years of antifouling protection.

I highly recommend seahawkpaints.com. Check out their website it will tell you everything you need to know. What is the reasoning for only 1 coat?
my dealer said that is what they do for all of their grady's (just one coat of petit hydrocoat on bottom and tabs);
just following what he said to do....
after being in the water from May thru November, i have to say that my 2002 sailfish bottom/tabs looked fine;
he also recommeded covering the tabs with the petit hydrocoat which i think had been coated with epoxy b4;
