A spur of the moment trip had myself, Brad(Familyfisher), and Jake(Amberjake)
Headed south out of Carrabelle at Sunrise hoping for big fishes. We past the
sea buoy and headed south. We were greeted with a choppy 1-2 foot sea as
the sun made a grand appearance. The number we were plotting took us
pretty close to the "O" tower so we dropped by to see if the bait had arrived.
The bait was plentiful but small. We put 3 dozen in the livewell and headed
for the deep.
We arrived at the 1st drop in 95' and made a drift. A couple of small
grouper meant it was time to drop the hook and give'em a try. The current
and wind resulted in an anchor heading that varied about 40 degrees as we
"waggled" on the hook. Everytime we hit "0" on the compass someone got
hit. We boxed one decent red grouper and many shorts. After feeding the
babies a while we decided to move. I had a number close by so we headed that
way. We arrived and the number had no show. We putted around a bit and
found a nice mark on the bottom. We anchored and soon the bite was on!
It wasn't long before Jake was whining like a school girl. The result was
this hefty grouper:

We continued to hammer the red grouper there with a Gag mixed in here and
there. We boxed 3 red grouper over 10 pounds and kept trying to get a few
Gags. They bit whatever we dropped, Ly's, Chub, pinfish, it didn't matter.
The tally of legal reds most likely totalled well over 2 dozen, but we had no
Gags. The decision was made to move on to a snapper spot as the Gags
were not here. I plotted the course and we had a 10 mile run northeast to
the snapper spot.
About half way we came across a show on the bottom machine that
was quite impressive. I hit "MOB" and we circled around to see what it
would produce. We had a snapper limit in short order and a new number
for the book!
A couple of snapper from the new spot:

We moved in after out "red" limits looking for gags. I held the
boat on a small rock for the boys as they promptly got hammered and
broke off in the rocks. It was evident that my crew was running low
on fuel. The drive from douglas had resulted in 1 hour of sleep the
night before and it was beginning to show. We headed for the hill.
Over all it was a great day on the water. We caught Red snapper,
red grouper, kings, spanish, triggerfish and Lane snapper. The weather
was perfect, the fish were hungry, and the crew was great!

Another file to be saved to the memory banks.
