What is a cheap way to wash out the bilge? I’m looking for a cheap soap to dump in the bilge disconnect the batteries, add some water and drive to the ramp 1 hour away washing the bulge as I go. Once at the coast re-hook the batteries and pump it out. However, what is the best soap to use?

I use a bilge cleaner but a cheaper version would be dishwashing soap. It is made to cut grease. Additionally, if you have mold in there and want it gone, a diluted solution of bleach would help out.

Does pine-sol cut grease? It smells good and I am thinking that is what I am going to use. Any input, try to get rid of that winter anti-freeze smell, what do you think???

I find Gold Bond does a good job on my bulge. 8)

For my bilge, I'd probably get some boat soap.

I pour a little Simple Green in and add some water a couple of times a year. Good degreaser and fresh smell too.

I'll second the Simple Green.

I keep a little in there all of the time. It works as well as any bilge cleaner I've tried. It's cheaper and smells better.
