Does anyone know how to clear the fuel vent line on a combination fuel/vent filling neck.

It seems as if the venting takes place through small holes built into the combo unit and that the cap somehow allows for venting when closed.

Trying not to pull the vent from the tank end if I dont have to. Thanks in advanve

If you look inside the fuel fill, you can see the vent opening - but it's not easy to blow it out given the location.

But... it's extremely rare for this fitting to get clogged... again, because of it's location.

What's the reasoning for blowing out the line?

Faint smell of gas after re-fueling. Primarily in front accces plate area where filler and vent lines are. Boat is 2002. Perhaps new lines are in order as permeation maybe occuring?

Tank is probably leaking. Stuff access plate area with paper towels and fill tank. Rock the boat for a while and check the paper towels. Look for leaks around fuel sending unit and hose connections. Alternative is to pull the deck. If the tanks are aluminum at 23 years old it's possible you have a corroded tank.
