Hi,
I'm going to take off the companion seat after this season and refresh it.

Some questions:
- Has anyone removed/reinstalled one? Any tips to pass along?
- Does anyone know who manufactured it? Would like to see what a complete replacement would cost and compare to a re-do of the existing frame.

Fishtales, what do you mean by companion seat.... are you talking about companion chair, or is yours the bench seat model?

Curious

Hi,
Sorry - the port side comes standard with a helm chair like the starboard. An option exists to remove the port side helm chair and install a small lounge chair "aka companion seat". It isn't a bench more like the seating on the 330.

Companion bench correct? I have one as well. Looks like there is a support bar in the front that comes off. From there I don’t know. I’ll be calling the factory this fall though as mine will be getting recovered. I upgraded my helm chair so the port bench is next for refreshing. It’s costing me $300 for 1 recovered and 1 new fish box cushions from the local canvas guy. I figure it will be $600-700 to recover the bench. Foam seems good. I’d bet if you could order it from Grady it would be $2000 but that’s a guess.

Hi,
No bench that comes off on this seat. It is basically and "L" shaped uppolstered seat that allows 2 to sit port side where the 2nd helm chair usually is installed. There are pics on GWs website for the 400 model. Just curious if I should have it re-done or try to buy new.

Yes we are talking about the same thing. I’d say definitely cheaper to recover it even if it needs new foam. Just have to figure out how to get it off.

Do you have a picture of your setup?

If there are no access panels (or other items, like speakers for example, that can be removed) to get to the back side, then it won't be through-bolted. It "could" be held in place with velcro or Christmas trees. I can't say for sure on your boat (other than the access thing), but this is pretty much the norm in the business.

I'm guessing that it is held in place by bolts or screws that are accessed by the storage box under the seat. I don't think getting it off will be that hard.
I'm wondering how much a replacement would cost versus a re-do of the existing seat. You'd have to locate the manufacturer and see if you can get it. That's why I'm curious if anyone knows who makes it.

I did this for the aft folding seat. I got the entire seat shipped with the bar so it was just a bolt on for 25% more than re-doing the existing seat. This made the job easy - quick remove and replace and I was back in business.
