I just ordered a few of the lighted switches........are the indicators lit internally or do they get wired on the back of the switch?

no idea. i assume these are the backlit switches on late model boats?
if so, be careful with cleaning products on the rocker switch where the function label is, they come off pretty easy....

I checked what wiring diagrams there are on these on the net. Looks like the lighted switches use the applied voltage to light the led in the switch. If I'm reading this correct, you can connect 12/24v to the switch and the led will light when the switch is turned on and completes the circuit.
