Tournament 225
G’day all,
I’ve got a 2008 Tournament 225 and I’ve just discovered corrosion on the inside of the Gil bracket. Does anyone have experience with this?

Is it recommended to repair it or is it better to replace it? Of course Gil is not around any more so the latter means replacing with Armstrong.

Also any advice on removing the existing bracket without damaging the transom? I’m guessing it’s on with 5200.

How bad is it? Where is the corrosion - meaning, can you get your hands on it? Cleaning it well, scuffing it up good and coating with epoxy might just do the trick.

Hopefully it's not on there with 5200! Try gently heating it... without catching the gelcoat/fiberglass on fire. Fiberglass burns very well (being an oil-based product).
