Hi All
I am looking at buying a 1994 sailfish 25. It's been on a hoist its whole live and looks to be in great shape. However its on the other side of the country. It does have this damage on the stringer. I dont know enough about how these are built to know if this is superficial or if it goes through to the hull. What damage could of come from this hole been exposed to water? The dealer says it's from the hoist. Is this just to the outside stringer and the hull is still solid below this?

Any other issues I should be looking for on this model?

Not sure if I would qualify that as "stringer" damage, although if that was a point of severe impact, there very well may be stringer damage. If you are considering buying this boat, do yourself a huge favor, and get a surveyor, or at least a very knowledgeable fiberglass boat/Grady White person to check this one out for you. It is, after all, a twenty year old boat, and should not be purchased based on the info from some seller and a handful of pics.

Yeah, that's not a stringer. That's a lifting strake. If I'm seeing that picture correctly, the spot of that hole would be outboard of the starboard stringer. It does certainly look like it was dropped on something or something rammed into it. I think the question of whether or not the hole protrudes into the hull is pretty obvious. How long was it like that? Was the boat in the water after the damage occured? There's really nothing else that I could say from this side of my computer screen, than to have a survey done... that YOU pay for. That's important. Then get an estimate for repair and go from there.
