Dielectric grease...how do you use it?

The previous owner of the boat I have now went crazy with this stuff. This explanation hopefully will help with someone's headache, and save all the trouble shooting this has cause me.

Some dielectric grease are caustic to your eyes. Eye protection is recommended as it usually is for every task.
Extra caution is to avoid rubbing your eyes if you have handled dielectric grease
