I purchased a Cannon Mag 10 it has an auto-stop function when the ball break the water level. Ball never stops and continued up to the pulley where it slammed against it. I contacted cannon support, and others to solve this problem. Checked hull truth as well. It has to do with connecting the negative to zinc anode (ship ground) as the downrigger depends on breaking that connection from the anode in the water to the stainless steel cable to stop the motor. I have a number of devices in my 228 including 8 hp auxiliary engine and garmin TR1 autopilot all working perfectly.
Where can I find the correct connection point in the 228 Grady 2004 model to make this 10 lb ball stop.
Is it possible to test this in water tank as the boat is on trailer now?

Thanks

I have digi-troll's and don't have a problem in or out of the water.

On my cannons the set-up procedure is to bring the ball to the water line (or where you want it to stop) press the menu key till you get "0" on the display, turn the unit off (double click the on/off) then turn the unit on again. The cannon ball should return to that setting every time.
