I have read about this here before and it has now happened to me.
Just checked on the boat to get it ready to launch and found a rather large split in the plastic.
It was fine when the boat was hauled and covered for the winter and it has been a very mild winter this year too.

I called Grady and sent them the pictures. I hope they will make good on it like they have always done in the past.
What worries me is how do you know who ever is going to fix it really knows what they are doing when it comes
time to weld the plastic and to also keep it from happening again.

No need to worry much about how Grady will respond. I had this problem on my 2004 Marlin. Grady sent their own guys up to CT for repair. Did great job, no charge to me.

That is one big crack (no pun intended).
I had some smaller ones on my last boat 282 that were fixed as discussed.
Will be interesting how they fix it. Let us know.

I wonder if theyd be willing to work on the same thing for a 2001 boat?

call your dealer and then Grady. They should cover this as it is a known issue.

Thanks guys.

I have been talking with Dan Davis from Grady.

He tells me the repair has to be done in stages over at least a week.
Has anyone who has their repaired could tell me how much work is involved
and what it took to get repaired.

I am hoping he can get someone from Long Island to come to the marina
who does mobile repairs or otherwise I am going to have make over a hundred mile trip to the
Dealer in Summers Point NJ.

With the price of fuel now I am weighting my opinions if this is economically viable
to have warranty work done at the dealer or just paying someone to do the work
or just built a cabinet over the crack.

I just got mine back from a headliner repair. My guy took it into the shop on a trailer since it does indeed take some time. It should be done by someone who is experienced and under factory guidance.
My repair looks terrific. Note GW took care of the entire process on a 8+ year old boat. That is what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

If you'd like more details, PM your email and I will connect you to my excellent marine repair shop.

I have an 08 Marlin and had the same issues. I had multiple headliner cracks inside the cuddy cabin. It took some prodding with GW customer service but they ended up repairing it with a local boat yard doing the work

thanks megabytes.

I wish I was closer to you. I would love to use someone that is recommended.

I would have to run 120 miles one way to Summers Point marina were the boat was sold.
Hobby Lobby would be a lot closer to me but from what I heard from other
Grady owners these people do not want anything to do with you if you did not by the boat from them.
So much for any potential new customers when it comes time to trade in or up.
