Hey guys,

Was going to try a magic eraser....but anyone have a good idea how to get rid of this/these sort of black marks? I was working on removing the decals and the rubber wheel did not affect this aspect heh

This appears to be a tie-down mark made when it was being hauled here.

Thanks

If the gelcoat is not currently shiny, the Magic Eraser will be fine. But know that there is no such thing as "magic"... it is basically sandpaper. Acetone or Naptha will likely work - so should cleaner/wax or a light rubbing compound. But be careful... those last two things will also make your hull shiny... which means you'll need to do the WHOLE thing! :)

I do not mind doing the whole thing lol... just will take time. I was explaining that very fact to my wife, albeit her eyes glazed over.. heh

I was showing her where I had used the rubber wheel to remove the decal. To a non CDO person, it looked clean, but if it is not shiny, the decal will simply be going on top of old glue...you just will not know it till it peels off... so.. in for a dime, in for a dollar... just need to find the fastest/easiest way to do it all.

I bought a Porter Cable orbital sander and a few buffing pads, so... ready to go to town

Thanks!

can try a hull cleaner or Mary Kate On/Off. Wear rubber gloves and re-wax where you use it.

I used a magic eraser and it came off with scrubbing.

Still have to do the decal residue and that will take a few hours

Use Meguiars Oxidation Remover and a wool pad on a buffer. Will get those out in no time, follow it up with polish and wax.

The magic erasers are great for stubborn stains but be careful as you are removing a small bit of gelcoat. Just wax when done.

Any fine grit compound will do then rewax. Did you ever try Big Bite? Easy compound to wheel. Great stuff you get it at Dannys Detail in Riviera Beach. My Islander is a 96 and shines like show room new.
