Eisenglass bug removal

Worked yesterday cleaning my eisenglass with West Marine RX Plastic Cleaner, couldn't get the final bug remains off the front sections. I trailer it going up to 60 mph, so the bugs hit it hard and have been lazy about cleaning it. I don't wanna scratch it so hoping someone has an answer that worked for them.

Can’t help with removing the bugs but I know someone who wraps cling wrap around the front section of his clears to keep the bugs off. Haven’t tried it myself.

Not cleaning off the goo as soon as possible makes the situation worse. If the bug juice has eaten into the protective layer on the 'glass' you will probably not be able to clear up the spot. I would take the canvas down and while laying flat, apply a concentrated solution of mild soap ( like boat soap) and warm water. (Try the solution in a less obvious spot first to see if it leaves a mark).
Let the solution sit fora while and keep the spot damp. Try 5 minutes to start without rubbing. Rinse and see how that works. It it helps you may need to do more treatments. Next tray rubbing with the solution and a soft cloth. Hopefully the stain will dissolve. Avoid anything with a petroleum base, that will harm the protective layer.
If all else fails, you can try an eisenglass cleaner/restorer and polish and hope for the best

I'll give it a whirl. Will post results. I can see through the glass clearly, my perfectionistic side wants the bug remains 100% gone :mad:

Now that's different. They were probable eating a sandwich wrapped in cling wrap when that idea popped into their head? :p
 
Another reason not to have the enclosure down while driving!

I have thick eisenglass, it does not bode well with folding down.

Today I tried soaking, mild agitating with a microfiber towel. No luck on the bug remnants. They will be forever etched on my glass.

They are okay for me to live with, since the eisenglass is above the lower windows and I'm not looking up there.
