Engine over rev

Taking the boat out the marina I powered up both throttles but couldn't get on plane. Then I noticed my starboard engine RPM was 6100! Apparently the engine didn't go out of neutral. It probably ran that fast for 2 or 3 minutes before I slowed down, put it in reverse then back into forward. After that she ran fine/normal. Question: think I cooked the engine? :jaw

You didn't sat what make and model but you are probably OK. You also probably blew out some carbon:)
