Engine over rev

Taking the boat out the marina I powered up both throttles but couldn't get on plane. Then I noticed my starboard engine RPM was 6100! Apparently the engine didn't go out of neutral. It probably ran that fast for 2 or 3 minutes before I slowed down, put it in reverse then back into forward. After that she ran fine/normal. Question: think I cooked the engine? :jaw

No, I think your engine can handle that without damage if your oil is good and it did not overheat.

You didn't sat what make and model but you are probably OK. You also probably blew out some carbon
