Engine shut down

I was under way with engine running all of a sudden it shut down Is there some kind of safety switch that would cause that?? 200 hpdi Yamaha engine waS RUNNING GREAT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM

Do you run WING NUTS to your battery? If so, please add a SS lock washer onto the posts 1st, one between each attached cable or lead "if room", then a nylok locking nut. Intermittent connection, i.e., loose ground,from the battery can cause an instantaneous shutdown. Or worse, kill your stator ($500 part +) or voltage rectifier/regulator ($200) plus labor.
