Hello I am trying to understand why the performance I am seeing is so different from the brochure on my GW. It's a 1999 222 CC Fisherman repowered with an F225. The spec sheet says 6100 RPM and 43.8 MPH top speed. I am nowhere near that. 1/2 Fuel and just me on board, and I'm topping out at 5400 RPM and 34 MPH. Bottom is clean and engine runs and sounds great. I'm assuming the prop is factory, but not positive since this is only my 2nd season owning the boat. I don't really need to go 40+ MPH, but just concerned that performance is so far off the spec sheet. Thanks!

Sounds like you've got the wrong propeller on there then, or something else is quite off. It's not exactly an apples to apples comparison but I've got a 2004 Grady White 228 Seafarer with a 2004 Yamaha F225 on it, of which the performance bulletin says she'll do a top speed of 44.6 mph @ 6,100 rpm. I don't get quite those good of numbers but with just myself and around a half a tank of fuel, I'll do around 41-42 mph at top speed while being close to 6k rpm for my max rpm. My boat is also going to be a little bit heavier than yours as it's a walkaround, has a full cabin/hardtop to it and per the performance bulletin it says the test weight of the boat is 5,361 lbs, compared to yours at 5,004 lbs. So... with the same motor and I'm guessing the same hull but being over 350 lbs lighter, I would think your boat should be at least doing the same speed as mine, if not faster. It definitely shouldn't have a max speed of only 34 mph and at only 5,400 rpm, it should be running at near the redline, which I'm guessing is that 6,000-6,100 rpm range. Here's the performance data sheet for my boat, I've got a 3 blade stainless steel prop on mine that came with the boat when I bought her back in October of 2021, but I'm not sure of the diameter/pitch off the top of my head. Good luck!

I'm really not sure what prop is on there, I just assumed the factory prop. I'm going to pull it off and see at the end of the season. I have almost no gear on the boat, it does have a canvass T-top though. I didn't adjust the tabs when I tested the WOT, but the bow was quite far down, so I assumed no tabs were needed. I don't have much experience running a small boat like this.

Thanks and my guess is that since I am that far off, maybe the prop was damaged and replaced with one that isn't really suitable. I'll investigate that once I haul and get the prop off.
