What do you all use for flag poles? I bought these:

Flag Poles

They were total junk. I could not tighten them down enough to hold, and then I could not remove them without breaking them. I have 2 flags, a Grady Life and a U.S. flag and wanted to mount them on the rails. I keep rods in the rod holders heh.

Thanks

I have one like that. I wrapped the rail 3 or 4 times with white electrical tape (3m 88) and clamped it. Then trimmed the tape to look nice. Worked well.

I'll have to try that... the poles are cheap enough heh. Thanks!

The rod holder ones are better. Just make sure you use a small bungee to secure them if they are in the top rocket launchers.

I learned a lesson about flying flags underway. Flags mounted forward of the occupants must be screwed, bolted or mechanically clamped in some fashion and not merely set in a rod holder. I was running about 35 with several people in the boat while flying a fishing club flag in a bow rod holder. It worked its way up and out and very nearly impaled a woman riding in the stern. Never again. Stern mounted flags are the way to go.

They can also fly out and impale the person you are towing:(
The safest approach forward or aft is to attach a tether cord to the pole.
