Hi,

Any interest in having another sight for all boaters, rather than just GW specific?

I ask, because I like the format of this site and THT is getting too off the rails.

I would especially like something focused on the New England states.

THT off the rails? You should have seen what it was like 10 years ago!
In case my interpretation is incorrect, how do you define "off the rails"?

I was there 10 years ago.

I just find it to have too many keyboard cowboys.

I agree. I also want something more regionally focused outside of their NorthEast section.

I used to partake in THT years ago. These days, I only read THT threads that were mentioned regarding specific searches. I used to think the site was worthless. My opinion now is that there is some good detailed info but it is buried in a ton of garbage. You have to do a lot of filtering and assume that much of what is posted is incorrect,

Exactly!

I have a login on THT and Bloody Decks and I never go there anymore. I like the GG forum, it's the 2nd best forum I've ever been on (first is the Duramax forum, that is a tightly run ship. I made friends with the moderator and it amuses me that you guys mentioned "keyboard cowboys". When I asked how he managed to have such a well run forum he said "I don't tolerate keyboard cowboys". Imagine that.)

I think any forum is going to be good or bad depending on who is running and what tone they set. My guess is GG is not the toughest forum to run, they all have their problem people (I asked John, the GG moderator if I was one of the problem people a few years back, because I do tend to ramble and he said I was fine. But if I'm rambling I respond well to "Larry, focus".) I suspect most of us are here because we wanted a quality boat, lots are here because they bought used and can use insight into their model, etc. Not a lot of room for keyboard cowboys. There are a few here and I eventually just blocked their messages. Works for me.

I really appreciate this forum and would prefer if people want a THT replacement they register a new domain and do it there. I'd definitely check it out.

I inquired on something similar a few years back I believe it was, to see if we could have an "open discussion" section of the forum to where it wasn't just about Grady White's, boats or other boat related things only. We could talk about things like sports, locations for fishing or vacationing, travel, cooking and recipes, hobbies, etc... as long as it isn't anything along the lines of politics or religion. That idea got shut down rather quickly though. I asked because the old boat that I had was called an Arima, and on their Arima Owners forum they had an open discussion section that had a bunch of topics where people came together and talked about things that as mentioned above, weren't just GW/fishing/boating related. I thought it was a good idea, but as mentioned it was shot down pretty quickly. There's another section on the website here about Grady White clubs that are location specific, but the one for the Seattle/PNW area extends the entire west coast, which is like 1,200 miles in length. Between that, and that section almost having no traffic at all over the last several years, it doesn't seem like that'll change up at all. Good luck.
