Hi there
This is our second season with our 255 and looking for feedback from other 255 owners. Ours is equiped with the hardtop, new Yamaha 300 hp ,windlass, sink station behind helm seat. I really like the 300 hp, it gets Bukster up on plane instantly with full gas load, people gear etc, no issue. She will cruise all day long at 26-27 mph with a fuel burn rate of 2.0-2.1 being about the best I have been able to get. We boat in Georgeon Bay Canada so fresh water. One observation I have is she tends to squat in the bow at low speeds and pasangers sitting up in the bow can get wet. When going slow, not on plane, I trim the motor right out and this helps but does not solve the problem 100%. Looking back, we waited an extra month last year to get the boat due to waiting for the 300 vs the 350. The motor is great but with the bow squat, she could have used the extra weight of the 350 . I would be curious to hear from owners having the 350 or even twin 150's as to how they feel , fuel burn etc. We have had a few problems with the first off but all being addressed by dealer and Grady. The biggest issue has been canvas but we are getting a new set from Grady for the bow (done) and windshield side curtains(coming) so hopefully this will be done soon. We also had trouble with access getting out of the water with the standard 3 step ladder but dealer installed a four step on the port side so we now have two ladders but the 4 step is required in our opinion. Feel Grady should think of going to the 4 step as standard. We have really started to put this boat through its paces this season and are very happy with the way she handlles as we get alot of large boats and strong winds in our water ways so some funky waves.
One other question for those who have the double electric helm chair. I am 5 foot 10 175 pounds. I can not move the chair close enough to the wheel to be able to rest my back on the back of the seat when sitting. Asked if this can be changed but can not so I put a pillow behind me so I can lean back when I want to. Its great for standing though as I can adjust it to a perfect standing/leaning back position. Looking forward to hearing from you 255 owners.
Regards
