We are in the market for our first family boat. Decided on dual console after boat show visit earlier this year. I have a few questions that I am looking for insight on. Have been leaning towards a low hour used boat since this is our first. Priced the 270 BW Vantage at boat show and was surprised by first offer of 25% discount. Then spoke to GW and their boat show price was no where near 25%. First question, what kind of pricing should I expect on 2014 leftover in these two brands? There are a limited number these used in market now. I have been told a low hour used 27' should be in 75k range and 30' around 150k. I received an offer on a left over 2014 on one of these at 25% initial discount offer. Is there more room? Is this "good" deal for a leftover BW or GW? At this pricing, would you lean towards new? The gap is shrinking enough to get me thinking new. For a family of five that want to be able to bring another family on board at time, is 27' big enough for long term ownership or should we step up to 30'?

I would appreciate the input.

3 years of experience with the GW 275 and also family of 5 on the Chesapeake bay. I have carried 9 and 10 passengers many times. At least 2x a year I borrow one life jacket because I only have 9 aboard. She has twin 150 and that has always been ample power. Even though you are a family of 5 there have been plenty of times I run by myself thats where this boat shines- so easy to manuever by myself. Cant tell you how many boats stay at the pier because too large to singlehand. My only dislike for the 275 is the 8.5 beam that when on plane with 4 or more passengers can have some roll that requires constant trimming or passenger awareness to balance themselves in the boat. The 285 is 9.5 beam and probably much better in that respect. Anyways i would be happy to answer any questions.
