Hello - Just bought a '99 Fisherman 222. Can't seem to find the location of the freshwater fill? Any help is appreciated.

I can't tell you the exact location, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. First, does your boat have that option? Next, where is the actual tank? Fills are usually pretty close to the tank. Find the tank, follow the hoses. Look for a possible access plate as the tank could be below a screwed down panel. If you still can't figure it out on your own, information like this is typically in an owner's manual. If you don't have it, download it from GW's site. It's gotta be 22' one way or the other!

Thanks for replying:

- Yes, it has the option, the pump and hose work perfectly.
- Downloaded manual but it doesn't spot the location of the fill. Does spot the tank location and I will attempt to trace.
- Haven't unscrewed panels yet - perhaps that is the ticket.

You shouldn't need a screwdriver to access the fill (although maybe the tank, if you ever needed to). But you may have to open (unscrew or pop-off) an access plate. I just looked at your manual... page 6-16 shows the tank inside the CC and the fill is on the starboard side of the CC.

Thank you.

None of the access plates lead to a fill location. Nothing inside the CC save for a plate which is screwed in and I'll later remove to peek in.

Are there any doors/access plates on the actual CC? Whether on the outside or inside (maybe missed one)? I dunno. :)

The tank is most likely under that screwed-down panel. No reason to get to it right now.

Gee, I don't know, mate. If it's not where the manual states it is, and you can't find it, either... I wish I could help more, but I think I'm out.

Any chance the access plate could be hiding behind some gear inside the CC?

When you said "pump and hose work perfectly"... are you sure you are not confusing it with the raw water washdown?

Hmmm. I think it's freshwater. Gauge on dash working and illustrating water fill level.

You may be right - This is the house and location of my supposed "fresh water" output. Perhaps it is raw water? Doesn't explain. The water gauge, however.

That looks like a raw water hose. If memory serves, the fresh water option would have a small spigot that swings out from under the gunwale.

Can you post a picture of that gauge?

And, try this: Turn on the hose and listen for where the motor sound is coming from and find the motor. It is most likely under the floor, in the center/rear section of the boat. Look for an access plate. Once you find the motor, look where it gets it's feed from... most likely a thru-hull with a seacock (handle). Make sure to exercise that handle once a month.

On a side note... if the motor is mounted directly to the seacock, that really isn't ideal. It's better to have the motor mounted to a structure like a stringer. But that's for another day!

Yes - Shows little water left and it needle has progressively gone down.

That's a (engine) water pressure gauge. Nothing to do with a fresh water system.

EDIT: I just noticed the scale (0-60). Unless there's something about your particular engine that calls for a pressure gauge that large, it seems strange that it goes all the way to 60. From my experience, all of the engines I've dealt with will run somewhere around 12psi (give or take) at cruise. With a scale that large, it's really tough to tell what's going on and/or when you start to have an issue. Water pressure dropping too low could indicate a blockage in the system or an impeller that's on it's way out.

So I think you've settled it. I don't have the freshwater option and the pump and hose are for raw water!
