Looking for input – I am changing my fuel filters – currently running a Sierra filter part # 187846 – I think this is a 20 micron filter. Can I replace that with a 10 micron filter element without issue? Engines are 96 200 HP Ocean Pro’s. This fall I am considering removing the Sierras and putting in Racors with the clear bowls.

Thanks

Racor S3213 and a clear bowl.

should not have any problems w/ 10 mic. It is what is reccomended up in the NE b/c of ethanol. Bring extras.

Anybody using the 2 Micron filters. I'm using the 10s now on my OX66s.

2 mic. would be OK IF you use it as a 3rd or 4th stage. If you use a 2 micron as a primary or secondary, it will clog. Work your way down to a 2 micron.

Be sure you don't get too much of a pressure drop with a 2 mic. filter. Do you feel you really need it?

S3213 Price?

Does anyone have a suggestion where to get the best deal on S3213's? I always get sticker shocked!

Find the best price on-line, print it, then go into a West Marine - they match any price. Did this myself last week for filter replacements (I use the 10M Sierra). West Marine price $15.99 On-line price $9.99. I saved the $6 and didnt have to wait for the UPS driver to show up.
A friend turned me on to this after he got WM to drop their price on a Windlass by more than $150.

The plastic filter in my VST clogged and so my mechanic suggested the 2 micron filters.

I think the VST filter is clogging from semi-gel like formation of ethanol fuel, not particulates, no filter can stop it.

I saw a cloudy vision when held up to light, vs. new one.

Sierra 18749 is the 10 mic replacement

My OMC fuel filter bracket is crossed to a Racor filter with Bowl. Some filter assemeblies can be crossed over to a Racor without having to by the whole bracket or modify the plumbing.
