Hello Everyone
I'm replacing the fuel sensor float on my 2000 192 tournament, I called Grady customer support and they said it was 9 inches I asked him if I should go shorter he said no because there's a 1/2 inch to the bottom. I'm replacing it with a KUS and everywhere I look says to go 1/2 inch shorter any thoughts on this

You asked what length the sender was and Grady answered; 9 inches You didn't ask what the dept of the tank was. Based on his response, it would be 9 1/2 inches. That said, your best bet is to remove the old and measure.

I replaced mine not so long ago and it's nice to know there is an emergency reserve down below.

Yes it is, I'm going to try to forget that though

The extra half inch or in the case of a poly tank, one inch, is there to provide sufficient flow into the pickup tube. Poly tanks can flex more than metal, hence the extra clearance spec.
I don't really see that space as reserve fue, once the level gets to the end of the pickup tube, you can't suck up that fuel. In addition, that angle of the hull at speed will generally make the tank seem fuller than it is and when you back down and the hull levels out, in theory the gas level could go lower that the pickup. The moral? Don't let your gas level get that low:)
