We are on our third sending unit, is there anything we can do to prevent it from going again?

What continues to be the problem? Do you keep replacing them with the stock unit which contains the float inside the tube? Aparently ethanol can affect and swell the float in the tube. I am replacing mine on a 96 208 now with a Moeller Reed switch unit that has the float on the outside instead. Only time will tell with the Moeller, but my original unit did last me 14yrs so I can't complain.

Yes we have replaced them with all stock units, honestly didn't give it any thought about getting one from a different company. We just installed this one about a month ago so far so good. Time will tell, thanks for the idea.

QUIT using the stock units and get the ones that WEMA makes. They are very simple in design and I have taken apart the older internal units that Grady uses. They tend to hang-up on the inside of the tube thus giving you false readings. The one from WEMA are very resonably priced -- IMHO.
