Fuel Tank Sensor

Just ordered my sensor (SSL) from WEMAUSA. They were very helpful and are also sending that new compound gasket...its cork and silicone combined!!?! I am also going to be replacing the connections that run from the sensor to the Yamaha gauge on the dash as they are pretty corroded.

Thanks again for the help.

As im thinking about it...The screws on this sensor are pretty old. What is the best way to loosen them up so I dont strip them when I take out the old sensor? Any ideas???

Thanks

One trick I have learned messing with aluminum threads and SS screws/bolts is to put pressure to loosen, then tighten ever so slightly to solicit some movement. If you get it to move, do small turns counter clockwise and clockwise, working back and forth until it seems to free up. This is allowing the corrosion to loosen and not overload the threads causing it to strip or damage the threads in the aluminum. Also, spray PB Blaster on the screws and again after it moves to try and get some lube in under the head of the screw to help.

Exercise lots of patience and move from one to the other if you get one that is stubborn and come back to it later.

If you get a really stubborn one, maybe try the freeze sprays and see if that might help.
