Having original fuel tanks replaced 2000 265 express.,Waiting on estimate from shop .what should i expect.costwise..Thanks

Lots of variables. Where are you? Do you know if the tanks can be removed without cutting fiberglass or bulkheads? What size are the tanks? Changing all hoses?

For that size GW and them doing all the work - $10,000. Tanks, hoses, miscellaneous parts are about $5,000.

SP Tanks in Clermont and Patriot in Forked River. SkunkBoat may be able to tell you how easy it will be to replace the tanks.

Your tanks are different but here are some things to look out for...

Mine are SP. done before I bought the boat. Atlantic Coastal Welding aka speedy tanks is in Bayville. They do good work too.

Do a search. I think someone posted 265 tank swap. Maybe Southern Style??? No cutting done to deck.

My KUS sending units are threaded instead of the standard 5 screw pattern. I think it’s a good upgrade

I did mine last season. It is actually fairly easy. The hardest part is replaceing the fuel fill and vent. See below......

265 Tank replacement
It's not that hard...

No access to fuel fills, main tank can't be removed without cutting bulkhead out, even with bulkhead out tank can't tilt up without cutting step. But this is a 268 Islander.

Yeah the 265 it totaly different. My bulk head was not glassed in just two bolted in 2x4s and no cutting involved. The fills are not as accessible however, they are below and behind the cabin sink. at least an arms length away. Real P.I.A.
