I have a vintage 2003 Furuno 1850 GPS. The coaxial connector has become detached from the cable (at the unit end) and will not stay on the cable. Does anyone know what type of connector this is? I think it is either an N or a TNC but am not sure. thanks

If you have a marine supply store with a good electronics department you can just ask them what coaxial connection you need for your machine. I bought a used Furuno GP-31 off of ebay and the connection you are speaking of was shot- the connection the store gave me was pretty easy to put on the cable, just required strictly following the directions and a little soldering.

call them they are really good

Great piece of advice. The folks at Furuno in Washington State are an excellent resource. I would bet that not only will they tell you what style the connector is, they'll ask you for your address so that they can ship you a free replacement.
