Is it possible to change the head unit to a 160C and not mess with the transducer cable ?. Will the signal work ?. Thanks

Transducer
If your old unit was a Garmin it will probably plug in. Most of the transducers used come from Airmar. If your switching vendors (non-Garmin to Garmin) you may have to change the connector.
As seasick said get more info. Old unit model and look at the transducer cable connector.
