greetings,

I have a 2000 fisherman with a 200 hp yamaha, saltwater series, 2 stroke.
I have changed the fuel filter in the vaporizer in the engine 4 times. The basic scenario is this:
New filter boat runs fine for approx 3 hours.
Engine then stalls and will run only at idle speed or slightly above. If you advance the throttle the engine stalls.
When removing the very small filter out of the engine it is coated with a very fine white substance which when dry almost feels like powder. Aluminum?

I have been unable to locate anyone with an identical problem.

Have changed seperator, added gas etc. Have not drained tank yet. loosing patience with motoring back to port at idle.

Any ideas greatly appreciated

Sounds like oxidation scale from the tank walls. You need to examine the inside of you fuel tank.

Agree with seasick... it's your tank.

Lot's of people went through this right after the switch from MTBE to Ethanol gas.

Have your fuel tank flushed/cleaned by a professional.
