I have an 1988 overnighter I would like to replace the gas tank. The label says it is 65 gallons, it goes about a foot or so under the deck beyond the hatch cover toward the captain seat. It appears I can slide the tank aft once I remove the rear blocking. Can I remove the tank without cutting the deck? It looks tight.

I have been searching for tips on replacing the tank, if anyone has a link pls foward.

Thanks

i have a 1984 offshore 24' and have tanks out to be made. all i had to do is make opening 1/16 bigger on each side give or take. my cross brace to hold tank down has screwed from inside off hull so cut 2x4 at end of screw broke 2x4 to be able to cut then grind screw flush.hope this helps. have pic but cant load them to big or something.good luck

You shouldn't have to cut anything (assuming ours are nearly identical). I replaced mine (65 Gal. also) on my 1987 overnighter a few years back. With the deck plate removed above the tank, I was able to pull it up and out with little problem. It was a pretty tight fit though, but picking up the rear first and working it up & out worked out fine.

Hey, I have the same boat with the same issue and I’m in need of another tank. Where can I get one? I’m in Miami Florida. My tank has a leak so I’m thinking about just completely replacing it for a new one since is the original tank since 1987
