Gauge Identification

I bought a 87 Seafarer where I am fixing everything up but I'm confused with one of the gauges. One says Water, the other Temperature. I'm sure the one that says Temperature is the engine temp, but the other says water and the dial only goes to 35. It has a small hose that goes to the engine. Any suggestion on what it is?

That's a water pressure gauge.

Those gauges look a lot older than 2005 - are they original to boat? Did the boat originally have a stern drive?

Does that small vacuum hose ACTUALLY go into/show up at the engine? Does it work?

Thanks. I got thrown when I saw Water instead of PSI. The hose goes all the way back to the engine. I'm hoping with a new hose it will work.

I don't know if they are original or not. No the boat has never been a stern drive. The hose goes all the way back to the engine. I'm hoping it works with a new hose connected.

So the OB is NOT on a bracket?

Take the vac hose off the gauge - does water come out?

Take the vac hose off at both ends... does it old pressure or vacuum?

Is the nipple/pathway on the engine clear?

Does the gauge work if you blow into it... or blow into it from the engine end of the hose?

I'm not saying it is... but being on a bracket "could" mean it was originally a stern drive. But you know your boat better than me!

I believe there was both a bracket-mounted version and a stern drive back then? But you'd be able to tell right away from the floor cutout - unless someone did some fancy repair work!

I can't see it ever being a Stern Drive because it has two fuel tanks taking up the entire cockpit area and the tanks are definitely original.

Yeah, it would be obvious as the cutout for the engine and dog box would be wider than normal hatches down the center of the boat.

Oh my! You have original tanks and they are NOT leaking, yet? That's practically unheard of.
