Reel is Penn Mag Power 980, used inshore. Not for the big horses you offshore guys go for. I've seen it both ways - use grease or don't use grease. Is drag grease fairy dust? For those who use it, what type of grease do you need? Thanks in advance.

I use Cals drag grease on pretty much all my conventionals. From my small garcia's up through my 50lb internationals. Assumes you have upgraded the drag washers to the dura drag material.

Same as "kirk a". I have used Shimano drag grease as well - no problem. Very, very light coating is all you need. All saltwater reel drag washers upgraded to Carbon Fiber.

Same here, everything upgraded to CF washers with Cal's grease.

Agree, same here. Just a thin coating is all that is needed.

I've done both (with and without) can't say I notice much difference.
