How is it that you would know how/where the fire started and that a fire extinguisher or two would have made a difference?

Well... if I were a betting man I'd say it likely started in the stern near the batteries, outboard or fuel tank. A little bit of situational awareness, acting quickly and using an extinguisher or two could've changed the outcome of the story for the better. Fortunately no one was injured.

Looks like a used outboard should be available for cheap!

Wow... Unless you have access and act real quick, I'd just get everyone off the boat and let what is going to happen - happen. You can always get another boat.

Once the fiberglass starts to burn, there isn't much you can do. The structure will burn to the water line which that boat did and fill with water which will extinguish what is left of the superstructure. The foam will keep the hull from completely sinking. It is really scary to see how fast a fiberglass boat can burn.

Good advertisement for an agreed value policy!
Maybe not:) If the value agreed on was set before the Covid mania, the boat may be worth more now then when insured. It's a crap shoot

That darned Propane grill again....................
On value it is a crapshoot to negotiate actual value, agreed is agreed.

Agreed:) But during Covid, used boat prices rose by almost 40%. In order to be adequately covered, you would need to change your agreed value assuming your insurance company would allow it and then probably have to pay a higher premium. Vey few folks I know would do that.
