I am in the market to purchase a mid to late 80's overnighter and had a question about the boats design changes. I have heard that there was a moderate hull design change sometime in the 80's production life of these modles that makes one a "dryer" boat that the other? Is that true or is that in reference to the design and name change in 1993?

Thanks for the help, can't wait to find my diamond in the rough.

They did lose the lapstrake outer hull design sometime in the mid 1980s. There was also a change in the center of balance around that time, which gave a somewhat drier ride. The later SV2 hull was a big step up in ride quality.

The old lapstrake 204 Overnighters were bow heavy and about about the wettest boats that I've ever been in. Solid and safe, but very wet.
