I found this in my new to me GW 228, does anyone know what it is?

its a snap tool. The pointed end is used to unsnap and the fold out hook is used to pull a snap into place (stretch the canvas by tugging on the snap ring.

I've owned GWs for 34 years and never knew the flat end of that tool was for stretching canvas!

The fork part is for popping your snaps on your curtains. I use instead of pulling on the curtain and possibly ripping out the snap.

If you are not looking for that specific tool, here is one that I have used. It is the Ironwood Pacific snap tool. It is really well made and does a good job.
