I just bought a used 2005 Gulfstream in Sept. The boat is real clean looks almost new. I went to use the fresh water pressure pump today and it did not work. I look in the maunal and it said the pump is located under the passanger seat. I took out the draws and located the fresh water storage take but could not see any pump. I traced the hoses and saw they led to the rear of the boat and saw the pump near the batteries, mounted on the rear wall next to the salt water wash down pump. Question does this mean the previous owner moved it here? Was there a problem or did GW make a mistake in their diagram?

Also is it the same type of pump for the fresh water as they use for the salt water?

the pump on my '02 was in the same location you described (on the transom). i think the fresh and raw water are two different types. but you can look at it to be sure. ron
 
If you have a live-well and a raw-water washdown, it is likely that these are the two pumps that you're seeing near the transom. On most Grady's, these two functions don't share the same pump.

Presuming you have an inspection plate between the helm chairs, you might be able to see or feel a pump there?

I have a 2000 gulfstream and my saltwater pump and freshwater pumps are both mounted on the transom port side. The raw water pump for my livewell is in the bilge next to the pickup for the saltwater washdown.
Take a look its probably the same setup as yours

mine are also located

on my 1999 G.S. there are locatd in the rear..Mine also went out and I asked the GW Mech when I got my goat back from having some service done.
 
guys thanks so much for your help. Does anyone know where i can find the correct replacement pump? The outside of the pump is a bit faded and i can't read it. Also does anyone know of a good store online i can purchase it from?

i think mine was shurflo also. i would just make sure that the gph/psi of the new is the same as the old. there are some really powerful pumps out there and they may be too much for the fresh water connections/tubing. check with gw if you can't see the info on the pump. i picked up mine at wm. ron
 
Before you buy a new pump, try taking the old one apart. My washdown/livewell pump wasn't working when I bought my boat. I pulled the pump head apart and it was totally gunked up in there. After a thorough cleaning, I put it back together and it worked just like new (and it's still working 9 years later).

agree. when the crud gets in the filter it just about shuts it down. finale was the micro switch going. wasn't worth it to go thru changing that out so i just got a new pump. ron
 
MICRO SWITCHES CAN BE JUMPED FOR TESTING AND EASILY REPLACED. HOWEVER, IT IS HARD WORK REMOVING THE PUMP DUE TO ITS LOCATION. I HAVE REPLACED THE MICRO SWITCH AND SAVED A LOT OF BUCKS. GO TO THE SURFLOW WEB SITE. WHY REPLACE THE PUMP MOTOR WHEN IT MAY NOT BE THE PROBLEM? YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE PUMP ANYWAY TO REPLACE THE PUMP OR THE SWITCH.

I had an O4 Gulfstream and the macerator pump was located under the passsenger seat. The access to it is by removing the screws on the face plate of the tackle draws and the whole unit pops out. I'm not sure if the freshwater was there too. The pumps in the stern could be washdown and livewel?
 
Fresh water pump

The Gw Manuel showed it under the passenger seat but it was monunted in the rear next to the wash down pump.
 
The pumps are the same type but usually different flow rates. The flow rate depends on what it has to drive. For my boat, the only fresh water outlet is the spray hose. I replace mine this year with a shurflow 1.6 gpm model. My saltwater washdown is 4.5 gpm.
Make sure you check the screen on the input side of the pump. They always get gummed up and block the water flow. My pump had leaked internally and slowly corroded. Note that the new Sureflow mounting bracket has different hole spacings than the older models so replacement was a bit harder. I filled the old holes with 5200 and drilled new ones.
 
Before you replace anything --- Check the wiring and make sure you have voltage to the pump.
