Gulfstream Kicker Motor

Greetings,

I have a 2004 Gulfstream and I am interested in either a Yamaha High Thrust 8 or 9.9 HP. Does anyone have any experience with either of the motors? Do you like the performance? The purpose is for trolling Lake Erie.

go with the 8hp with power trim and tilt

yami is going away with the 9.9 and using the 15hp now

I have a 2000 Gulfstream with a 9.9 1999 Merc Bigfoot,The powerhead is built by Yamaha.It pushes the boat about 7 Knots max.If its not real windy you can steer the boat from the helm with the main motor acting as a rudder.Overall I would say its okay although I never liked the way the motor ran its pretty much done what I asked it.You might have even better results because of where your boating.Let me know of any more questions.-Pat
