Where is it leaking from? It is usually the front seal that goes. I am planning on replacing mine tomorrow. There are videos on YouTube and it is fairly straight forward. The seal kit is cheap.

I replaced the O-ring last year it leaked over the winter. It seems that it was leaking at the O ring again . The kit for this pump is 70 bucks. The O ring only comes with the whole kit. Looks possibly difficult to replace all O rings in pump without leaks .

Jim,
Call SeaStar customer service 604-248-3858 - they'll hook you up with a local service joint for a rebuild. If you leave a message they really do call you back. If your helm is more than 10 years old you may find that nobody will touch it (that's what happened to me). They'll tell you to get a new one (and it will likely cost less than the rebuild anyway).
Good luck!

To save some money I use aviation hydraulic fluid, much cheaper than the Seastar stuff and it's red so any leaks are easy to see.

Thanks for the reply will just go new since it's a old modle. How do you like your Evenrude G3 ?

I decided to replace the helm pump on my 91 tournament . The pump is much smaller and needs a backing plate. I am having a hard time finding a 20 degree mounting bracket to mach the holes in the dash. Has anyone else had this problem and whats the solution . . Thanks. Jim.
