Hi...

I have a chance to buy a 1989 GW Gulfstream. It's got new power, but has been used as a charter boat for the last 6 years. While it's got a lot of mileage, it's obviously been well cared for as a charter, and has had to pass regular government inspections.

Is there anything I should be looking out for on these boats? Tell-tale signs of trouble, etc?

Thanks so much for any input and insight!

to start with, the boat is 21+ years old, i would get a detailed survey done (hull and engine);

there are so many areas to cover/things to look for and unless you really know what u are doing, imo, this should be left to an experienced surveyor.

if i were buying that boat, i would ask the owner what has been replaced and go over EVERY component (all pumps, hoses, wiring, bilge, hydraulics, etc) to see their condition and if they were original or have been replaced recently;

go to grady website to get the layout of the boat to find where everything is and go nuts!
