hard to till from my screen, is this your boat ? or a potential purchase ?

Bought the boat end of last year. Had been on the hard for 8 years only 450 hours on her.

Its on both sides about the same spot. Trying to get it to a grady dealer next week for their opinion

I am not a structural engineer but I have played one in my mind before. It seems to me it's cracked bottom coat over the years. There does not appear to be a crack going north of the paint. Paints get old , get brittle and crack especially if there is some flexing, heating and cooling. Until you can truly see under the paint or have an x ray taken or get a real pros opinion , you may either have a cracked hull or just cracked paint.

Grab a scraper and knock all those layers off that'll just fall off and then hit it with a sander to till you get to gel coat and then you should know what you're dealing with.

Check the first picture it is threw at least the gel coat it extends above the water line hoping its not structural and just brittle thick gel coat

can you get inside access to see if ok inside? a vertical crack like that seems funny unless where the glass layers meet. Could just be the outer layers that can be fixed fairly easily. I'd let a glass guy have at it.

Looks like moisture getting under gel Cote. I agree with fishtale in that I don’t think it is structural. Just top layer damage.

Seems like it was blocked wrong maybe? Do you have a pic of how it was blocked for 8 years. Just a guess

It doesn't look good, hopefully it's only on the gelcoat but I think it may be old damage on the F/G. Not an ex hurricane boat that was repaired? In any case you will have to sand it down to F/G to see how deep it is and take it from there.

She was blocked along the keel with 4 boat stands keeping her up right. Takes no water into the bilge. As soon as I get her back from the shop replacing the fuel lines I'll be running her to a grady dealer. Was hoping some one here may have seen this before.

Did you say there was a similar crack on both port and starboard sides?

The probability of a 'stress' crack in the gel coat appearing on both sides in the same place is just about zero in my mind. I tend to think that there is a serious structural failure on that hull. It needs to be looked at. I don't suggest being under the hull when on the boat stands.

Good luck. Let us know what you find, it is an interesting condition and hopefully not too serious.
