I have given up on the AFI dual horns. Tired of cleaning rust stains from the cheap stainless. Even new ones stain the boat.

What are my choices? I found a Five Ocean's 316 stainless dual trumpet. Could put on hardtop. Not crazy about the size or look though.

Any suggestions?
 
I found the mounting area to be tricky. I guess I could have moved it, but too lazy.
I've had to change the stock horn one time in 15 years with no rust issues. It was made by Ongaro but looks like several others out there. Not sure if they are all the same or not. If you go with the GW dual electric horn again, maybe look for that brand.
 
Looks the same as the others. The MAX says it better. We'll see.

I put an Ongaro dual trumpet on the hard top. Mount it on a starboard block so you can point it downward to make it easier for water to drain. Use it at least once every trip! Also they use a lot of current so be sure it is properly grounded.

I'm afraid you are right. The only thing the extra money bought me was a 5-year warranty. They are made by the same company with the same model numbers and private labeled. Maybe I'll paint the next replacement!

Totally agree that they all SUCK.

Buy a pneumatic hand held boat horn at West Marine and you're all set.
 
Here we go again! These were Seadog or Sea Choice. They look exactly like AFI. They are done.
I bought a bugle type on Amazon i’m going to put it up high Going to use a stern pad and hang it from the bottom of the hardtop.

At the boat now putting on a horn. It’s already screwed up. I took the bracket off to make it easier to screw into the stern pad. The nut fell off inside. I don’t understand how there could be a nut in there. It doesn’t make any sense but anyway, I took an oversize sheet metal screw and screwed it tight . on the other one the nut stayed there and it tightened up so I’m looking at it and now I’m worried that I can’t really hang it upside down cause it’s not gonna drain out as well so we’ll see. Anyway, it’s hooked up. It honks. ready to roll.

update:
Spring of 2024 -- The SternPad let go over winter.
I remounted using bolts thru hardtop. I bent the bracket so that the horn angles down. Much better. Still working now that it drains downward.
 
I may mount mine under the top like SB did. I like the idea of getting it out of the splash zone.
